Maria Fay Nenette Maximo-Cariaga, RPh, MS Pharm, PhD EM , is a consistent Academic Achiever: Dean’s Lister and Academic Scholar, a PACOP (Philippine Association Of Colleges Of Pharmacy) Silver Medalist Awardee during her pursuit of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree at SLU (Saint Louis University) Baguio City; Tenth Placer (10th) in the July 1996 Licensure Examination for Pharmacists, and an Excellence in Research Awardee in her pursuit of Master of Science in Pharmacy at CEU (Centro Escolar University) Manila; an advocate of lifelong learning and continuing professional development, she graduated Magna Cum Laude in her pursuit of the degree, Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management at SLU (Saint Louis University). She started her academic pharmacy practice in 1997 and became the Head of the Department of Pharmacy at Saint Louis University, Baguio City in 2003, teaching in both undergraduate and graduate programs. In various capacities, she has served as the Leader and Coordinator of the Department along the areas of Instruction, Training, Research and Social Involvement.

Enriching her pharmacy practice experience was her position as the Training Manager of MedExpress Drugstores in 2008, an innovative retail pharmaceutical company that offers relevant professional pharmacy services. Through this, she was able to actively contribute in encouraging professional development and ensuring a culture of medication safety in the community pharmacy setting. As a promoter of positive change in the pharmacy profession, she is a member of the Bureau of Speakers of the Continuing Professional Development Committee of the Philippine Pharmacists Association.

During the pilot offering of the BS Pharmacy program at the College of Allied Health Studies University of Makati in 2012, she was designated as the Executive Director of the Center of Pharmacy. After a year, her role expanded to becoming the Associate Dean of the College. In 2016, she was appointed as Dean of the same, strongly advocating innovative, relevant, outcomes-based and inter-professional pharmaceutical healthcare education, training, research and extension programs among the Centers of Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Pharmacy; and Lifelong Learning, Development and Innovations. She is a member of the Phi Lambda Theta; Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA); associate member of the National Research Council of the Philippines and Treasurer of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division 4. She was one of the elected Board of Directors of the Philippine Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (PACOP), an affiliate of the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA), from 2016 to 2018, and 2018 to 2021, and has served as its PRO and Executive Vice-President, respectively, also served as Chair of PACOP’s Membership and Teaching-learning Committees. She was awarded as PPhA (TOP) The Outstanding Pharmacist in Pharmacy education (2020) and University of Makati Student Council Most Supportive Dean (2021). She is currently the President of PACOP for the term 2021-2023; Second Member of the CPD Council for Pharmacy, the Vice President for Planning and Research and Concurrent Dean of the Institute of Pharmacy at the University of Makati.
