The Center for Culture and the Arts (CCA) is devoted to harnessing the potentials of students through the presentation of a variety of performing arts programs and events to the UMak community. The Center also includes UMak’s stakeholders: employees, alumni, parents and industry partners in its development programs.
The University of Makati Center for Culture and the Arts (UMak CCA) was conceptualized and established in the academic year 2009-2010 during the presidency of the late Prof. Tomas B. Lopez, Jr. (+).
A firm advocate of providing quality education to the young, Prof. Lopez ascertained that UMak remains relevant and responsive to the needs of its students.
He believes that UMak should unceasingly endeavor to concretize educational programs that allow its students to create better lives for themselves and for their families.
Corollary to this belief is a strong conviction to develop the holistic formation of the UMak Herons. For +Prof. Lopez, the University of Makati is a place where art is not only valued and developed but it is also a venue where cultural legacy is upheld and preserved.
The Center for Culture and the Arts envisions a vibrant and relevant set of activities by the various and diverse affiliate student-organizations and the whole UMak community, and its business partners that promote the culture and the arts while espousing excellence with a soul and competence with compassion.
To promote cultural excellence and arts appreciation, UMAK – CCA initiates creative and multi-faceted artistic performances that advocate the ideals of the true Great Brave Herons, the Makatizens, the Filipinos, and all citizens of humanity.
The Center for Culture and the Arts is a creative and artistic department that harnesses the potentials not only of its student – members but also of UMak’s stakeholders: employees, alumni, parents and industry partners. This goal is achieved through dynamic and significant curricular and co-curricular programs that enhance artistic self-expression, specifically in the discipline of performing arts.
Recruitment Policies
All bona fide UMak students who have artistic talents in performing arts are welcome to join one (1) ensemble provided he/she passes the screening process and the auditions. Once admitted, he/she must abide by the constitution and by-laws of their respective group and must exhibit the discipline that is reflective of the UMak-CCA.
